When your morning greets you like this:
…there’s nothing for it but to Seize the Day…(once I’ve dispatched the kids).
At first my feet stick in the claggy legacy of a recent lashing of wind and rain:
But thankfully Knole Park’s long shadow-patterned paths are drying quickly in the morning sun.
White aeroplanes glide easily across the bright blue sky, as gracefully light as birds. The air is beautifully still.
The Not a Treeo comes into view, and gives me the usual uphill push with its ever-changing reward. I smile at the patiently curious deer.
Almost home. I stop and turn to steal one last look at the shadows stretching from this slant of a tree across grassy anthills.
Tomorrow the rain will return, and with it dark skies, no shadows, but the same super squelch of mud.
I go home to prepare to face my scary skin-changer Hobbit bear, Beorn – now I’ll be ready 😉
